BOSTON (WHDH) – As the grounds crew gets the field ready to “play ball,” the Senior Executive Chef at Fenway Park is rolling out some new food options.
Spicy grilled cheese anyone?
“I tried this grilled cheese yesterday, and it’s dynamite, it’s very spicy,” Ron Abell said, Senior Executive Chef at Fenway Park. “There’s a mango salsa on it. It’s served on sourdough bread.”
There’s a new selection of tasty tacos, and a take on North Shore roast beef with steak tips, BBQ sauce, and mayo.
“I’m a huge mayonnaise fan,” Abell said. “I put mayo on my aspirin. So you’re probably gonna see a little more mayo.”
No doubt, the hot dogs will always be the number one seller at Fenway. But this year, you’re gonna have some new options. The Boston Dog with baked beans, the Pit Master Dog with pulled pork, the Pizza Dog with pepperoni, and the Reuben with corned beef and swiss.
7NEWS’ Jonathan Hall got to have the inaugural bite of their lobster roll.
There will also be gluten free options, including chicken and beef empanadas.
On opening day, fans will get to relive a world series year, 1986, even though games six and seven didn’t go as well as everyone hoped!
MLB hall of famer Wade Boggs, ace Roger Clemens and Jim Rice were some of the stars. Many more will be coming back, just as they did a decade ago.
