The Oakland Police Department said the suspect was wanted for multiple felonies.
The driver “attempted to flee” and hit the officer, causing injuries, San Francisco police said. The officer was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Oakland officers pursued the vehicle and took the suspects into custody after they tried to carjack another vehicle, police said.
Around 5:30 p.m., officers were seen leading a handcuffed man to a police cruiser in the 3400 block of Webster Street. Oakland police confirmed at least one person was taken into custody.
Jim Beere, the acting police chief of the Oakland Police Department, said one of his officers fired a single shot during the incident, but no one was injured by the gunfire.
