Three people shot, one fatally, at party in Will County

One person was killed and two others injured in a shooting at a family party in far south suburban Crete early Sunday, according to the Will County sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office received several calls about a fight and possible shooting around 1 a.m. Sunday near 27000 S. State Line Road. Deputies arrived to find a large crowd and three shooting victims, who were taken to nearby hospitals, according to the sheriff’s office.

One person later died at a hospital in Olympia Fields. They have yet to be identified.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident of domestic violence.

The shooting comes less than a week after a triple homicide in unincorporated Crete. Will County sheriff’s deputies were called to conduct a wellness check in the 3400 block of East Norway Trail around 2 a.m. Monday and found three people fatally shot. An Indiana woman was arrested and charged with nine counts of first-degree murder.
