Residents throughout San Diego County and elsewhere were invited Wednesday to register their votes in an annual survey on their favorite parks in the region and what attractions they enjoy most.
The California State Parks Foundation opened its 2026 Best of California State Parks online poll this week, asking participants to cast their votes at calparks.org/votebestof26.
One voter will be randomly selected to win a California Explorer Vehicle Day Use Annual Pass ($195 value), good for free vehicle entry to more than 200 state parks.
“The Best of California’s State Parks poll is a fun opportunity for Californians to share what they love about their parks,” State Parks Foundation Executive Director Rachel Norton said. “There are so many different types of parks to explore in California, whether you’re looking for a day at the beach, a hike among the redwoods, or a chance to learn about history.”
Survey respondents have multiple options from which to choose across categories based on top spots for camping, “spectacular views,” birdwatching and family-friendly atmosphere.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park that stretches across San Diego, Imperial and Riverside counties falls into three separate categories.
The winning selections from the 2025 survey can be found at calparks.org/press/new-best-californias-state-parks-poll-highlights-beloved-places-hiking-camping-and-more.
