A Boston rarity, this home is located in an entirely new subdivision of single-family homes. Called The Preserve at Cardinal Hill by its developers, the latest addition is a 2,700-square-foot home on what is now Starling Street.
Entering via the stone walkway to the farmer’s porch, the home has a staircase centrally installed in the foyer with openings on either side.
To the left is the 196-square-foot formal dining room with a pair of double-hung windows overlooking the front porch with black muntins and trim. Below the windows and around the room is board and batten wainscoting, and the flooring is white oak. There is recessed lighting, crown molding, and a central light fixture with white drum shades. A wide opening connects to the kitchen/breakfast area.
To the right in the front hallway is the living room with the same white oak flooring, but a much larger gathering of black-accented double-hung windows. A pair is set on the front wall, and three are in a bump-out on the right wall. The front wall has shiplap paneling, and there is a black ceiling fan. The key draw, though, is the gas fireplace in the deepest portion of the room.

Like its counterpart on the opposite side of the front stairs, the living room also ties into the kitchen/breakfast area. Since both are on the right side of the home, the living room directly leads into the 114-square-foot breakfast area. It’s a rectangle crowned by a circular black lighting fixture echoing candles, with a pair of double-hung windows and clear glass door sliders to the backyard.
Turning attention to the heart of the home, the kitchen is one of the largest areas, at 581 square feet. It features two rows of white cabinets with black pulls, a subway tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances, including the six-burner gas stove and exhaust hood above. There is undermounted lighting, an undermounted sink beneath a pair of narrow windows above, looking out to the backyard. A large island with seating for four is directly across from the sink. Countertops are quartz.
Around the corner, a half-bath at the rear of the home has tile flooring, a single vanity with the same cabinet and countertop as the kitchen, and a double window overlooking the backyard. One wall has shiplap paneling.
A door in this hallway connects to the one-car attached garage.
Directly ahead of the central staircase is a 66-square-foot full bathroom that is accessed by three bedrooms flowing off the hallway. A shower/bath combination is behind a sliding glass door, the flooring is tile, and there’s a single vanity with steel-toned sink fixtures. There is also a large mirror and fixture with three separate lights.

The three secondary bedrooms range in size from 144 square feet to 189 square feet. The two largest have walk-in closets, while the smallest has a pair of side-by-side closets.
Also on this level, behind double doors on the main hallway is a laundry closet with space for full-size appliances.
The remainder of this floor is occupied by the primary suite. Just inside the doorway and on the right is the 69-square-foot primary bathroom. Behind a clear glass door is the shower with a rain shower head and a hand-held shower surrounded by a subway tile backsplash. There is a large double vanity with a central tower, increasing storage space. The countertop is quartz, and there are two undermounted sinks. Above each is a frameless mirror and wall sconces.

The 230-square-foot primary bedroom is designed to be a respite. There is a cathedral ceiling, a central fan, and a gas fireplace. Next to the fireplace is a pair of double-hung windows. The area best for a bed is identified by a trio of smaller windows about three-quarters of the way up the wall. Adjacent are two separate walk-in closets, each about 30 square feet. The flooring is white oak.
There is a full, unfinished basement and a walk-up attic. The home has gas heat and central air conditioning.
