OAKLAND — All lanes of westbound Highway 24 are closed at Highway 13 after a big rig carrying several tons of cardboard overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. just east of the Highway 13 connector ramp. The CHP said all westbound traffic is being diverted to northbound Highway 13.
CHP dispatch logs indicated the big rig was carrying 7,000 pounds of cardboard at the time of the collision.
The California Department of Transportation advised motorists to expect delays and use alternative routes.
There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.
