SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The San Francisco Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an inmate at the county jail was stabbed today.
It happened at the facility on 7th Street, near Bryant.
Sheriff Paul Miyamoto says the stabbing happened during a one-on-one fight between two inmates.
One of them used a makeshift knife.
“We have people who make things, that improvise things, that are made into weapons inside of the jail and, uh, we stay on top of searching and making sure that those kinds of things aren’t in the population,” said Sheriff Miyamoto.
The sheriff says the fight did *not escalate to the larger jail population.
The victim’s condition is unknown.
