The wounded student was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His identity wasn’t released but other students said he is a football player for Plantation High.
Part of the brawl was captured on video and one video showed one juvenile handing a gun to another juvenile after the shooting as they were running away.
A Plantation High School student was hospitalized on Monday after he was shot near the school, Broward School Board officials said. NBC6’s Kim Wynne spoke to witnesses.
Detectives later found the gun in a canal in Lauderhill and those two juveniles were arrested.
Police said the incident didn’t happen on school property and said there’s no indication a firearm was ever on the school’s campus.
The incident remains under investigation and more suspects could be charged, police said.
