Another Broward County high school basketball coach was arrested in a scheme to illegally rent out gyms for tournaments that involved two other coaches, authorities said.
Donald Calloway, 50, an assistant girls’ basketball coach at Coral Springs High School, is facing charges of grand theft and organized scheme to defraud, an arrest affidavit stated.
Authorities announced the arrests of Blanche Ely High School boys’ basketball coach Henry McNabb and Coral Springs High School girls’ basketball coach Brenton Hankerson on Thursday in connection with the scheme.

According to the affidavit, Calloway rented out several illicit basketball tournaments at Coral Springs High School from April to June.
He allegedly rented out the gym “without following the proper channels” and entered private agreements with outside basketball associations, the affidavit said.
Calloway allegedly arranged the rental payments through Hankerson, who compensated Calloway for it. His total profit from the scheme was $2,800, the affidavit stated.
Meanwhile, McNabb had rented out Blanche Ely’s gym multiple times for tournaments, and had also rented out the gym at Hollywood Hills High School, the affidavits said.
Calloway was still booked in Broward’s main jail as of Friday night.
All three coaches “could be subject to termination,” Broward County Public Schools officials said in a statement.
“This most recent arrest by Broward Schools Police is part of the ongoing investigation into the improper use of District facilities for personal gain. It, again, reaffirms the superintendent’s commitment to transparency and to rooting out public corruption,” the district said in a statement Friday about Calloway’s arrest.
