A woman was arrested on Christmas Eve after she allegedly stole Christmas wreaths and more from several units at a Miami apartment building.
According to an arrest report, 21-year-old Hayla Alcantara Morejon “entered the unlocked front door” of an apartment building at 2870 Northwest 18th Avenue in Allapattah.
Surveillance video caught her committing several crimes, including vandalizing a $250 fire extinguisher box and two electric panel covers valued at $500, and breaking into two mailboxes in the building’s lobby “with a tools he obtained when she broke the extinguisher box,” authorities said in the report.
Then, Alcantara Morejon allegedly walked through out the building and took three Christmas wreaths worth approximately $75. She also is accused of taking medicine and mail from outside two apartments.
The suspect was found asleep on a chair in the lobby with the stolen property, the arrest report states.
She was booked on charges of burglary, possessing burglary tools and criminal mischief. According to remarks on the arrest report, Alcantara Morejon was out on probation.
