It’s officially cold South Florida!
Friday morning brought widespread low- to mid-40s across the region, meaning temperatures have fallen more than 20 degrees compared to Thursday morning. There is a noticeable north breeze, too, making it feel even cooler.
A cold weather advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. as wind chills in the lower 30s are expected, the National Weather Service said. This is officially iguana-falling-out-of-trees weather!

But will the cold break records?
Miami is forecast to hit 44 degrees by 7 a.m. The last time the city was that cold was on Jan. 16, 2023.
Fort Lauderdale is forecast to hit 43 degrees. That temperature was last recorded there on Jan. 15, 2023.
What about the CFP National Championship?
South Florida will rebound Friday afternoon under sunny skies, but highs will still struggle to hit 70 degrees.
We stay sunny and warm up this weekend, until yet another front (though not as strong as this one) hits and gives us a cool CFP National Championship game.
Kickoff temperatures will be in the mid-60s, and maybe some 50s by the end.
NBC6’s Julia Bagg holds an iguana that’s taking time to warm up.
