New surveillance video from inside a gas station in Deerfield Beach captured the moments before a suspected thief allegedly battered a deputy and fled the scene in a vehicle.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident started on Friday, at around 11 a.m., when deputies responded to a theft at a business near the 300 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard.
A clerk at the Shell gas station told NBC6 that the suspect was eating and drinking inside the store and refused to pay.
Surveillance video from inside the gas station showed the suspect, 37-year-old Avonta Bailey, grabbing items.
