Atlanta Falcons rookie star James Pearce Jr. intentionally crashed a Lamborghini SUV into WNBA player Rickea Jackson’s car twice then struck an officer while trying to flee before his arrest in Doral on Saturday, according to new police reports.
The 22-year-old was booked into jail on multiple charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer without violence, records showed.
According to the reports, Doral Police had responded to the 6100 block of Northwest 99th Avenue after Jackson said Pearce was following her in a white Lamborghini SUV.
Jackson told police she and Pearce had been dating for about three years and had recently ended their relationship, and said she blocked his phone number but he used an alternate number to keep contacting her, the reports said.
She said she’s told him to leave her alone and that she wanted nothing to do with him, but said he continued to send her messages, the reports said.
Then, on Saturday, Jackson said she was driving to her home when she noticed Pearce driving the Lamborghini SUV behind her, the reports said.
Jackson said he followed her and got out of his SUV when they were both stopped at a red light and tried to open her driver’s door, but said she drove off and he got back in his SUV and began pursuing her again, the report said.
At one point, Jackson said Pearce intentionally crashed into the rear of her vehicle, the reports said.
Jackson said she arrived at a police station but Pearce cut her off and blocked her from getting to the police station before he intentionally collided head-on into her vehicle, the reports said.
Officers responded and found Pearce standing outside the Lamborghini, and an officer drew his weapon and told Pearce to get on the ground but Pearce got back in the Lambroghini and closed the driver’s side door, the reports said.
The officer opened the door but Pearce closed it again and locked it then drove away, and as he drove he struck the officer in the knee, the reports said.
Pearce continued driving to a gas station and eventually crashed at the intersection of Northwest 102nd Path and Northwest 65th Lane, the reports said.
He got out and started running on foot and when officers tried to take him into custody he tensed his arms and there was a brief struggle, the reports said.
Pearce was eventually taken into custody and brought to Jackson West Medical Center to be assessed.
Cellphone video showed Pearce getting arrested and placed into a police car, and showed the Lamborghini SUV crashed on the side of the road.
Attorney’s for Pearce later released a statement on his arrest.
“We look forward to working with the State Attorney’s office in fully investigating this case and uncovering the truth. Mr. Pearce maintains his innocence and urges the public to understand that while allegations have the power to shape a narrative, that it is hardly the full, complete story,” the statement read. “We look forward to vigorously defending our Client and remain confident that he will continue contributing positively to both his team and the community he serves so well.”
Pearce appeared before a Miami-Dade judge on Sunday who granted him a $20,500 bond and ordered him to stay away from Jackson. He left the jail later Sunday after posting bond.
The Falcons said in a statement they are aware of the arrest.
“We are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr. in Miami,” the statement read. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time.”
Pearce was a first-round pick in 2025 who led the Falcons in sacks and was third in NFL defensive rookie of the year voting this past season.
