Team USA is racking up medals and setting records, and we’ve still got plenty of events ahead! We’re liveblogging the whole thing, so you can keep up here.
Today, South Florida’s Jared Firestone competes in the men’s skeleton heat for Israel. (Winners will be announced Friday.)
And Regina Martinez Lorenzo, Mexico’s first female cross country skier who calls Miami home, made her Olympic debut. Though she may not have made the podium, she represented Mexico with pride. I spoke to her family about how they were feeling before her competition, which you can watch on my Instagram.
Team USA’s men’s hockey team takes the ice for the first time in Milan, going up against Latvia. That means three Florida Panthers players will be going head-to-head: Matthew Tkachuk with Team USA, and defenseman Uvis Balinskis and forward Sandis Vilmanis will both be making their Olympic debuts representing Latvia.
I’ve got all the fan excitement coming your way on NBC6. Ciao!
