South Florida in Milan: Mexico’s first female cross-country skier makes Olympic debut

Team USA is racking up medals and setting records, and we’ve still got plenty of events ahead! We’re liveblogging the whole thing, so you can keep up here.

Today, South Florida’s Jared Firestone competes in the men’s skeleton heat for Israel. (Winners will be announced Friday.) 

And Regina Martinez Lorenzo, Mexico’s first female cross country skier who calls Miami home, made her Olympic debut. Though she may not have made the podium, she represented Mexico with pride. I spoke to her family about how they were feeling before her competition, which you can watch on my Instagram.
