1-year-old hospitalized after being attacked by family dog in Hallandale Beach

A 1-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a family dog in Hallandale Beach on Friday, authorities said.

The incident happened at a home in the 400 block of Southeast 9th Street.

Hallandale Beach Police officials said the child was being changed by their mother when the family dog attacked them.

The mother was able to pull the child away from the dog, and the parents brought the child to the hospital, police said.

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed the child being taken by helicopter to another hospital.

The extent of the child’s injuries were unknown.

Broward County Animal Care and Control was notified and is involved in the incident, which remains under investigation.
