The U.S. women’s ice hockey team announced its roster for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics on Friday.
Hilary Knight, Kendall Coyne Schofield and Lee Stecklein are among the notable names on the 23-player roster, which includes 20 skaters and three goaltenders:

Here are five things to know about Olympic ice hockey player Kendall Coyne Schofield.
Knight is aiming to earn her fifth Olympic medal in her fifth Olympic appearance. She already has one Olympic gold and three silvers in her trophy collection, and she can become the third ice hockey player (men’s or women’s) to earn five Olympic medals. Beyond the Olympics, she also captained Team USA to a gold medal at the 2025 world championships.
Coyne Schofield wore the “C” on her sweater during Team USA’s most recent Olympic run in Beijing. She scored three goals and added three assists as the U.S. went on to earn silver.
In all, there are 11 players returning from the 2022 Olympic team and 12 players set to make their Olympic debuts in Milan Cortina.

Team USA will compete in Group A, along with the Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland. Here is the team’s group play schedule:
- Team USA vs. Czech Republic: Thursday, Feb. 5, 10:40 a.m. ET
- Team USA vs. Finland: Saturday, Feb. 7, 10:40 a.m. ET
- Team USA vs. Switzerland: Monday, Feb. 9, 2:40 p.m. ET
- Team USA vs. Canada: Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2:10 p.m. ET
The gold medal for the Milan Cortina Games will be awarded on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Team USA and Canada have squared off in the last four Olympic gold medal games, with Canada winning three (2010, 2014 and 2022) and Team USA winning one (2018).
The North American rivals have also met in the last five World Championship finals, with Canada (2021, 2022 and 2024) holding a 3-2 advantage over Team USA (2023 and 2025). Tessa Janecke netted the overtime winner to cap off a 4-3 Team USA triumph in the 2025 championship contest.
In all, Team USA has two golds, four silvers and one bronze since the women’s ice hockey event was added to the Olympics in 1998.
