Authorities said they received multiple 911 calls about the fire at a home on 1400 River Island Road just after 8 a.m.

A photo of the scene shows the roof of the structure covered in plumes of smoke as flames burn.
Two people were rescued from the home. One of the victim was taken to the hospital; the other was evaluated at the scene for potential smoke inhalation.
It took authorities about 30 minutes to put out the fire.
The home, meanwhile, was left “pretty thoroughly destroyed.”
Officials are working to determine what started the blaze.
