The Miami Dolphins‘ new staff is adding a familiar face.
Quarterback Malik Willis reportedly will sign a three-year, $67.5 million deal with the club, including $45 million guaranteed.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the news Monday.
The Dolphins announced their plans to release quarterback Tua Tagovailoa earlier in the day, clearing the path to sign Willis. New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley both came over this offseason from the Green Bay Packers, where Willis served as Jordan Love’s backup for the last two years.
Willis, 26, was one of the top quarterbacks on the market this free agency given his brief flashes with Green Bay.
Over two seasons, he made three starts but showed capability in both the passing and running game. His stats with the Packers included six passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns and no interceptions over 11 appearances.
A former third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2022, Willis has just six career starts but is expected to fill that role for Miami entering Week 1.
