Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis will be donning a Miami Dolphins jersey this season after the club reportedly signed him to a 3-year, $67.5 million deal.
As part of the deal, Willis will reportedly get $45 million guaranteed.
This change in the club’s roster comes after the Dolphins announced their plans to release quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on Monday, clearing the path to sign Willis.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the news Monday.
Malik will join new Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, who both came over this offseason from the Green Bay Packers.
Who is Malik Willis
In 2017, Willis played college football for the Auburn Tigers for one year and then played for the Liberty Flames from 2020-2021.
Willis was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round, 86th overall pick in 2022, and played for one year.
In 2024, Willis went to the Green Bay Packers and served as backup for quarterback Jordan Love for two years.
Willis was one of the top quarterbacks on the market this free agency given his brief flashes with Green Bay.
Over two seasons, he made three starts but showed capability in both the passing and running game. His stats with the Packers included six passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns and no interceptions over 11 appearances.
Willis has just six career starts but is expected to fill that role for Miami entering Week 1.
