A Broward Sheriff’s Office detention deputy has been fired following his arrest for an alleged sexual battery involving two victims in Deerfield Beach, authorities said.
Edwin Horace, 25, was arrested Tuesday after a woman told deputies he sexually battered her at a house party on Monday, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Horace later admitted to the sexual encounter with the victim but told detectives it was consensual, authorities said.
The victim said it wasn’t consensual, and Horace was arrested on two counts of sexual battery and one count of false imprisonment, officials said.
As detectives continued to investigate, they identified another female victim who attended the party, and charged him with an additional count of false imprisonment, one count of strangulation dating violence and two counts of touch or strike battery, BSO officials said.
Horace, who worked as a deputy in the Department of Detention and Community Programs for less than a year, was fired after his arrest, officials said.
“On and off duty, I expect all employees to conduct themselves lawfully and with decency. I find the allegations in this case deeply disturbing and concerning. Therefore, immediate action was taken to terminate the probationary employee,” Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony said in a statement Friday.
