A man accused of abusing his dog inside a condo elevator in Miami was arrested on Friday, records showed.
Nicholas Jabbour, 32, was charged with animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill, Miami-Dade Jail records showed.
According to authorities, on April 5, an officer went to the condo after receiving reports of animal abuse.
At the condo, security staff told the officer that a tenant was seen on surveillance video mistreating his dog inside the elevator, the report said.
The staff said that the person grabbed the dog by the leash and slammed it onto the ground after the dog urinated inside the elevator, the report said.
They also said there were other incidents involving the same person and the dog urinating in the hallway and inside the elevator.
When the officer went to knock on the tenant’s door, there was no response, and Miami-Dade Animal Control was told about what happened.
Five days after being notified about the alleged animal abuse, officers returned to the condo, where animal control detectives showed them surveillance video of Jabbour and his Dutch Sheppard entering the condo elevator.
Once they were in the elevator, the video captured Jabbour yanking his dog’s leash, which was connected to its collar, and pulling it up to a point where the dog was lifted off the ground, the report said.
Jabbour, the report said, was then seen slamming the dog into the ground, and continued to hurt the dog a total of two times.
The two were seen leaving the elevator, the report said.
