A student is facing charges after they brought a BB gun to a middle school in Lauderhill, police said.
The incident happened Monday at Parkway Middle School on Northwest 5th Court.
Lauderhill Police officials said the school’s resource officer had been notified by staff that a student was seen displaying what appeared to be a weapon before boarding a bus to school.
When the student arrived on campus, they were detained by the officer after running through school grounds, police said.
A search of the student’s backpack revealed the handgun-style BB gun, officials said.
The student was charged with charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and possession of a BB gun by a minor under the age of 16.
There were no reported injuries and no threat to the school, police said.
