New details were released on Saturday after two men accused in a $2 million burglary ring targeting a Weston community were arrested.
Daniel Osorio-Valencia, 42, is facing several charges, including burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and possessing burglary tools with intent to use, while Jose Elias Barrozo-Espinoza, 38, was booked into Broward’s main jail on Sunday on charges including burglary with damage and grand theft, records showed.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 31, 2025, deputies arrived at a home after receiving reports of a burglary.
An arrest report said the homeowners weren’t home, but they received an alert from their Ring Camera footage and saw two suspects breaking into their home.
In the surveillance video, the two men broke into the home from the rear door, and when deputies arrived, they saw that a glass window that led to the master bedroom was cut with an unknown tool, the report said. The window damage was about $1,500.
As deputies searched the home, they saw the bedroom was ransacked, and a safe that was in the room had marks consistent with someone trying to get inside, the report said.
Surveillance video captured the two suspects leaving the home with backpacks on as they headed towards a lake, the report said. A perimeter was then established by deputies.
After some time searching the area, the report said, deputies were able to find Osorio-Valencia hiding near the lake, and he was arrested.
Inside his backpack were the following items:
- Wi-Fi jammer (device used to thwart security alarm signal)
- black/gray gloves
- 2.5-pound mini sledgehammer
- 12-inch flathead screwdriver
- Wallet containing the victim’s identification
- Numerous pieces of jewelry
BSO said the two used the equipment and even inflatable boats to traverse a nearby waterway to gain access to the gated community.
Deputies said that over six-months, from August to January, homes in that community were targeted by a sophisticated theft crew
According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant, Barrozo-Espinoza was wanted in connection with a Nov. 8, 2025, burglary in Weston.
Zionsville Police said officers were investigating a report of a man dressed in black running through backyards in a neighborhood and used a drone to help take him into custody.
Barrozo-Espinoza was arrested back on March 21 by police in Zionsville, Indiana and was extradited to Broward County.
During his court appearance, a judge set Barrozo-Espinoza’s bond at $200,000.
BSO said four other people who were arrested on unrelated charges are believed to be part of the team of thieves.
