Wildfire burns hundreds of acres south of Tamiami Trail in Miami-Dade

A wildfire is burning south of Tamiami Trail in Miami-Dade County early Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Forest Service said the flames broke out Monday at around 5 p.m. and have burned 450 acres. The blaze is 0% contained, but is not threatening homes, authorities said.

Drivers headed west on Tamiami Trail from Miami will be able to see the flames, just a few miles west of the Miccosukee Resort and Casino and Krome Avenue.

Tamiami Trail remains open in both directions.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
