More than two dozen people were detained after a suspected smuggling boat was found in the ocean off Miami, authorities said.
The 28-foot vessel had its lights out but was detected by radar about five nautical miles east of Miami at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.
Marine Interdiction Agents responded and found the boat being operated by a suspected smuggler, officials said.

Also on board were 24 other people who were attempting to enter the U.S. illegally, authorities said.
The people on the boat included Haitian, Romanian, Colombian, Bahamian, Moldovan, and Jamaican citizens.
All 25 of the people were transported to a U.S. Coast Guard cutter for processing and the boat was seized, officials said.
