Nearly half a million dollars in Pokemon cards were stolen from a card shop in LA and now police believe it may be connected to another similar burglary that took place in Simi Valley.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, when employees at RWT Collective were leaving for the night, they were stopped by two men, and one had a handgun.
Police say the thieves stole a case of Pokemon cards from the trunk of one of the employee’s cars and ran off. They say the cards stolen were valued at around $500,000.
However, this wasn’t the only card theft that happened over the weekend.
Officers responded to Simi Sportscards around 3 a.m at a shopping center on Erringer Road, according to Simi Valley police.
The owner tells NBC4 that thieves broke into his shop with a chainsaw and smashed display cases, making off with at least $50,000 in valuable cards.
The LAPD says they are now looking into whether these thefts are connected.
