An alleged armed robbery suspect in the Winnetka area of Los Angeles was killed Saturday when his potential victim wrestled away the gun and shot him.
Officers responded to the shooting around 4 p.m. near Sherman Way and Mason Avenue.
The gunfire exchange occurred after an altercation stemming from a suspected drug deal, according to the LAPD.
A 31-year-old man was in an alley when a 36-year-old man approached, attempted to rob him, then fired shots at him, the officer said. The two men got into a fight and the would-be victim wrestled the gun away from the assailant and fired a shot that struck him.
Paramedics took the suspect to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, he said.
