Officers responded Thursday morning to a report of a man with a gun at the California Science Center parking lot south of downtown Los Angeles.
LAPD received a call to the museum at about 9:30 a.m. NBCLA has reached out to authorities for more information, including whether shots were fired and whether anyone is in custody.
Video posted to the Citizen app showed LAPD patrol SUVs outside the museum. At least two ambulances also were at the scene.
Located in Exposition Park, the science museum is in an area dotted with educational institutions, including the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the California African American Museum and the University of Southern California campus.
