A person has been arrested on suspicion of arson and is being investigated for multiple rubbish fires in the Hollywood area, the Los Angeles Fire Department told NBC4 Investigates.
The Los Angeles Police Department is working with investigators to determine if these fires are connected to a fire in the Hollywood area that left one woman dead and another hospitalized.
LAFD said they cannot confirm if the same suspect is considered responsible for the fatality in Wednesday morning’s fire. A crew of over 40 firefighters responded to a two-story fourplex on the 1700 block of N. Vista del Mar Avenue.
Firefighters knocked down the flames in about 20 minutes and searched the residence.
They found one senior who was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman believed to be in her 70s or 80s who was transported to the hospital in grave condition after firefighters performed CPR.
