It’s time for a bathroom break at Runyon Canyon: On Thursday, Feb. 12, the Fuller Avenue entrance will be temporarily closed to the public while a new restroom is installed at the park.
According to the Hollywood United Neighborhood Council, the entrance will be closed from 6:30 a.m. until about 12 p.m. Visitors should keep an eye out for “No Parking” signs along Fuller and Hillside avenues, too, and follow those restrictions.
During the closure, visitors should use other entrances to access the hiking trails, including the Vista and Mulholland entrances.
The council said a crane will be accessing the Fuller Avenue entrance to deliver a prefabricated, permanent restroom that’s been in the works for the popular hiking destination since 2024.
Up until now, the park — which attracts millions of visitors annually — has only had Porta-Potties.
The city is spending close to $1 million on the new restroom project. While some locals welcome the addition, others previously told NBC Los Angeles that permanent restrooms aren’t necessary in the park and could lead to crime.
