A man was rescued from the Chicago River near the Loop Friday morning in below-freezing temperatures.
Around noon Friday, Chicago Fire Department officials pulled an adult man from the river near the intersection of East Wacker Drive and North Wabash Avenue.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
CFD crews were seen along the river on East Wacker Drive and a CFD boat and the scuba team were also on scene.
It was not immediately clear how the man ended up in the river.
Temperatures in Chicago were forecast to peak in the mid-to-upper 20s Friday after a bitter cold morning.
No additional information was immediately available.
