DUI suspect sought following a chase that ended in a crash in Sun Valley

Authorities are searching for a DUI suspect believed to be hiding in a building near two schools in the Sun Valley area Monday morning.

According to authorities, the pursuit began early Monday morning, shortly before 3:45 a.m.

Officers attempted to stop the man on suspicion that he was driving under the influence, Officer Norma Eisenman with the Los Angeles Police Department told media outlets at the scene.

Minutes later, the man crashed his vehicle near Arleta Avenue and Wicks Street and fled on foot, the officer added.

Ultimately, the suspect climbed onto a rooftop in the area, Eisenman said.

The suspect, described as a man between 30 and 40 years old, is also wanted in connection with a possible homicide.

The California Highway Patrol has closed the northbound exit ramp for the 170 Freeway.
