A man was stabbed several times after trying to de-escalate an altercation outside a Chicago fast food restaurant Friday morning, police said.
Around 8:30 a.m., a 24-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at a Burger King on the 6400 block of West Irving Park Road in Chicago’s Dunning neighborhood, authorities said.
He was inside the restaurant when he tried to de-escalate an altercation, authorities said. He was then stabbed by a person who was later taken into custody.
The stabbing occurred outside the restaurant, according to police.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where authorities say he was initially listed in critical condition.
A spokesperson for Burger King said the company was “saddened” to learn of the incident and stated the franchisee of the location is cooperating with law enforcement amid the ongoing investigation and providing support to those impacted.
Area Five detectives are continuing to investigate.
