The City of Santa Clarita wants dirt bikers to stay out of the construction zone at Haskell Canyon Bike Park because the “unauthorized riding” is causing damage and delays to the project.
In a social media post Monday, the city said riding dirt bikes or any motorized vehicle inside the park’s construction area is not allowed.
“[It’s] actively damaging the park, delaying its opening and impacting the quality of the facility for everyone who is excited to use it,” the City of Santa Clarita’s post explained. “The trails and riding features are carefully shaped and compacted, and unauthorized riding is destroying progress and setting the project back.”
The city said “violations will be enforced to the fullest extent of the law” for riders who continue to enter the park’s construction zone.
“We look forward to welcoming riders once the park is complete — help us keep it in great shape for opening day,” the post added.
NBC Los Angeles reached out to the City of Santa Clarita Tuesday for further details on the dirt bike issues at the project site. We have not yet heard back.
What is Haskell Canyon Bike Park?
The City of Santa Clarita broke ground on Haskell Canyon Bike Park in June 2025. The area is located at 21450 Copper Hill Dr., within the Haskell Canyon Open Space.
The project is designed to transform a portion of the area’s open space into a “premier destination for mountain bikers of all skill levels,” aiming to create a unique outdoor experience.
When the project is finished, it will feature 15 miles of cross-country, climbing and downhill trails set against panoramic views of the surrounding local mountain ranges.
The city said riders can expect these “world-class amenities”:
- Slopestyle lines
- Downhill jump trails
- Dual slalom courses
- Beginner/intermediate and advanced pump tracks
- A skills learning zone
The site will also include a parking and an event space.
According to the city, the bike park project supports a broader goal to position Santa Clarita as a “leading mountain biking destination in Southern California” that will attract outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
The Haskell Canyon Bike Park was originally slated to be completed in December 2025, but its opening was pushed to 2026. Its new opening date has not yet been announced.
