Investigators are trying to track down a person who made multiple calls about a campus shooting at Santa Monica High School, Santa Monica Police said Tuesday.
Authorities said the caller began reaching out to the Santa Monice Police Department at around 11:10 a.m., making threats of a potential shooting at the school.
Officers responded to the school immediately and put the school on a lockdown, forcing students and staff to shelter in place.
After searching the campus, police determined the threats to be unfounded and lifted the shelter-in-place order at around 11:54 a.m..
As the school resumed normal operations, officers will have a visible presence on campus for support, police said.
“Threats involving schools are taken seriously, and individuals responsible for making false or threatening reports will be held accountable,” Santa Monica police said in a joint statement with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
No one was injured during the incident.
