A suburban elementary school was placed under “secure and teach” status and nearby residents were advised to remain inside their homes Tuesday amid a police investigation into an armed robbery, authorities said.
Around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Bolingbrook police responded to the area of Nutwood Court and Lawton Lane for a report of an armed robbery.
B.J. Ward Elementary School, located at 200 Recreation Drive in Bolingbrook, went into “secure and teach” status during the police investigation, authorities said, though there was no perceived threat to the school.
Residents of the area were advised to remain inside their homes and contact the police department if they saw any suspicious activity, police said in a post on social media.
