A pedestrian was killed and multiple vehicles were badly damaged after a driver lost control and crashed into a Walgreens parking lot in the west suburbs Wednesday.
Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, a driver lost control of their vehicle and struck a pedestrian before hitting multiple other vehicles near the southwest corner of Butterfield Road and Wolf Road in Hillside, authorities said.
The pedestrian was killed when they were hit while crossing the street to enter a parking lot, police said.
The driver then struck a police squad car, continued driving before ultimately striking multiple other vehicles, authorities said.
Several cars and pedestrians were in the area when the crash occurred, authorities said.
Wolf and Butterfield Roads will remain closed for the rest of the day, a Village of Hillside spokesperson told NBC Chicago.
Aerial video from NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed three crashed vehicles with visible damage in the parking lot. Debris could be seen scattered around them.
