After a very “gray Christmas” in the Chicago area, it appears a big change in weather is coming to town.
Christmas Day started off with morning fog before temperature highs are expected to reach near 40 degrees or higher for some.
While more rain, drizzle and fog could return Thursday night and into Friday morning, things will take a turn after this weekend.
Mild temperatures are set to continue through Sunday as highs stay in the upper 40s, but a cold front will quickly change things.
Temperatures will start to drop Sunday afternoon, with lows dipping possibly into the teens. By Monday, highs drop into the 20s.
It appears 2026 won’t start off quite as mild as the Christmas holiday.
Early predictions for the New Year’s Eve holiday show highs in the low 30s, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
