Evanston police urged residents and drivers to avoid part of a main roadway amid a hazmat response in the area Friday morning.
According to police, first responders were called to an “isolated hazmat incident at Greenwood Care,” a mental health clinic in the north Chicago suburb.
The response sparked the closure of Chicago Avenue between Dempster and Lake “until further notice,” noting that the hazmat response was “active” as of 11:30 a.m.
“There is no threat to the public at this time,” police wrote on X.
