Man found shot inside car along 105 Freeway in South LA

A man was found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle along the 105 Freeway near the West Athens neighborhood of South Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol told NBC Los Angeles.

As the man and his car were found near the Vermont exit, all eastbound lanes except for the #5 lane were closed as of Thursday afternoon.

Images from NewsChopper4 shows the right-side rear window of the car was shattered.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

CHP officials said the case was being investigated as possible highway violence.

It was not immediately clear who shot the man or how the man ended up with the gunshot wounds. The CHP did not have a suspect description as of Thursday afternoon.
