Fines for venue curfew violations added up to more than $40,000 on the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.
According to the city, fines for acts that went over time totalled $24,000 on Friday and $20,000 on Saturday and after performances by Anyma and Justin Bieber exceeded established 1 a.m. end times. Anyma’s set ended at 1:09 a.m. and Bieber’s, which included an appearance by Billie Eilish during “One Less Lonely Girl,” closed at 1:02 a.m.
The festival has a set time agreement with the city of Indio, which places fine money into its general fund. Fines are sent to festival operators Goldenvoice. NBCLA has reached out to Goldenvoice for comment.
