Several iconic Chicago museums will be closed Friday as extreme cold grips the city and suburbs.
According to the latest updates, attractions at Chicago’s Museum Campus will be closed for the day on Friday, including the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium, and the Shedd Aquarium, according to the institutions’ social media accounts.
Frigid temperatures are in the forecast, with an extreme cold warning taking effect late Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Air temperatures will struggle to get above zero on Friday, with wind chills of up to 30 degrees or more below zero during the morning hours, according to forecast models.
The Chicago History Museum will also be closed on Friday due to the cold conditions, according to its website, as will the Museum of Contemporary Art.
At least one Chicago museum will be open on Friday, as the Chicago Children’s Museum will offer buy one, get one free admission for the day, according to its social media channels.
