Billionaire gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer has been spending a lot of money on ad blitz across Southern California airwaves and online with various versions of his campaign commercials.
But the latest ad, narrated by actress and activist Jane Fonda, may contain a mistake that Steyer himself would not approve.
The ad promotes the qualifications of Tom Steyer in his run for governor as Fonda says Steyer has stopped pollution, promoted clean energy and made California more affordable.
But one line from the ad sounds like Steyer “will beat the corporate interests making (Californians’) life unaffordable.” Yes, “unaffordable.”
Despite the confusion that the sentence may create, Steyer’s campaign told NBC Los Angeles that the sentence structure is a written form correct, meaning the corporations are the ones making life unaffordable for Californians.
The latest campaign financial reports from the California Secretary of the State’s office showed Steyer has raised $105 million with almost all of it being his own money. Most of the funds were used on TV and online commercials.
Other top fundraisers this quarter include San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan with $13.5 million, followed by Republican frontrunner Steve Hilton with $4.2 million.
