Severe weather prompted an “emergency evacuation” at the popular country music festival Stagecoach on Saturday night.
A notice on the screen of a stage read: “The festival has been postponed until further notice. Please move quickly and calmly to the nearest exit.”
The Stagecoach app was also showing festivalgoers a message, telling people to leave and move their vehicles outside the event site. Video from attendees show crowds of people trying to leave.
As of 9 p.m., the festival posted an update saying “the show will resume momentarily” and that it was preparing to reopen its doors.
The annual festival is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information arrives.
