A 64-year-old man has died after the snowplow he was driving was struck by a Metra train in suburban Bartlett Monday morning.
According to Bartlett police, the man, who is an employee of the village, was driving a small snowplow at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Railroad Avenue at approximately 8:35 a.m. when the vehicle was struck by an outbound Metra train on the Milwaukee District West line.
The driver of the snowplow was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
No passengers or crew members on the train were injured in the collision, according to Bartlett police.
Trains on the Milwaukee District Line were impacted, but service fully resumed shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, according to Metra officials.
Metra police are expected to lead the investigation into the incident, and no further information, including the identity of the driver, was immediately available.
