A Los Angeles police officer fired his weapon at a dog after receiving a call about dog bites during a homeless encampment cleanup in Pacoima, the Los Angeles Police Department said Tuesday.
The LAPD’s Foothill Division had sent a patrol unit to support the encampment cleanup project in the area of Montague Street and San Fernando Road, according to the LAPD.
But as the project continued, officers received a help call at around 10:37 a.m. about two people, an officer and a 30-year-old man, being bitten by a dog. The dog bites led to an officer to open fire at the dog,
Two ambulances were requested to the scene.
The two people bitten by the dog were expected to survive, police said. The condition of the dog was not immediately clear.
