Pasadena Humane celebrated the adoption of the last Eaton Fire shelter animal, it announced Wednesday.
Artemis, a German Shepherd, was adopted on Tuesday after spending months at the animal shelter following last year’s Eaton Fire.
According to the nonprofit organization, he was initially taken to Pasadena Humane for boarding after his family lost their home to the blaze. Ultimately, the pooch’s family made the difficult decision to surrender him due to long-term difficulties brought on by the disaster.
“During his time with us, he showed us what true resilience looks like, growing and opening up in ways that made his progress all the more meaningful,” the animal shelter wrote in a post online. “Artemis is now thriving—loved, adopted, and exactly where he’s meant to be.”
Pasadena Humane acknowledged that for some animals after the fire, going home meant being reunited with their families, while for others, it meant starting a new journey in adoptive homes. It also thanked the public for the support it received following the fire.
