A Long Beach man has been arrested in connection with a series of chain-snatching robberies, police said Friday.
Anthony Stevens, 19, is believed to be responsible for three robberies that happened on Martin Luther King Avenue last Monday, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He was arrested on Tuesday and booked for robbery and possession of a loaded firearm at Long Beach City Jail, police said.
Stevens’ bail was set at $250,000, according to the police department. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for filing consideration, police added.
To prevent becoming a victim of a street robbery, police recommended the public limit phone use and other distractions, walk in groups, stay in well-lit and populated areas, keep valuable items out of sight and close to your body, avoid lingering near curb edges, and seek help if you feel unsafe.
Detectives say there may be more incidents and asks any possible victims to contact the non-emergency police dispatch at 562-435-6711.
