Authorities announced Friday the arrest of two suspects in connection with the sale of stolen tools taken from Home Depot stores across Southern California, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators.
According to the Southern Division’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force, the suspects were identified as purchasers of stolen tools that were later resold at a swap meet in Los Angeles County for profit.
Another investigation led authorities to execute a search warrant at the suspects’ residence, where they recovered more than $600,000 worth of stolen Home Depot tools.
The CHP said it remains focused on combating retail theft in the region.
“The CHP is committed to aggressively investigating organized retail crime activity in the Los Angeles region and throughout California,” the agency said.
In August of 2025, fourteen people were arrested in what authorities described as the country’s largest organized retail theft case in the history of Home Depot. Here, the network’s leaders used wholesale and online businesses as fronts to “make dirty money look clean,” said Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko.
