Team USA earned two more medals on Wednesday in the Milan-Cortina Olympics, including an epic performance from Mikaela Shiffrin.

Shriffin was held off the medal stand in Beijing four years ago, but she roared back into the spotlight on Wednesday as she took home the gold in the women’s slalom.

The U.S. men’s cross-country skiing team also scored a medal, leaving the team with 24 total medals in this year’s Games.

Here are the latest standings.

2026 Winter Olympics Medal Count

Team USA got the day off to a strong start as Shiffrin captured a gold medal in the women’s slalom, thrashing the competition by a wide margin as she captured a medal for the first time since the 2018 Olympics.

The United States also picked up a silver medal in the men’s team sprint final in cross-country skiing, with Norway taking the gold.

Team USA placed second with a time of 18:30.3, just 1.4 seconds behind Norway. It was the first Olympic medal for Schumacher and second for Ogden, who won silver in the sprint classic last week.

While Team USA didn’t win a medal in men’s hockey, they took a remarkable step toward that prize on Wednesday as they took down Sweden in overtime in the quarterfinal round.

On Thursday, the United States will have shots at more gold medals in multiple sports, including in women’s hockey, as they’ll take on Canada in the gold medal game, with puck drop set for 12:10 p.m.

The U.S. will also hope to win at least one medal or perhaps two in women’s figure skating, as the free skate will take place on Thursday.

USA women’s hockey team says it is “excited” and “ready” as the they prepare to compete for gold on Feb. 19 following a dominant run to the final.

Alysa Liu enters the day in third place in the competition behind Japan’s Ami Nakai and Kaori Sakamoto, and Isabeau Levito is in eighth position.  

Medals will also be handed out for the first time in the sport of ski mountaineering.

The men’s 1,500-meter speedskating competition will hand out medals, as will the Nordic Combined team event.
